T.E.A.M. Health’s present indoor facilities include a 12-stall barn and a small single barn. The outdoor facilities include a 180’ x 75’ sand ring and a 60’ round pen for training and classes. T.E.A.M. Health also has a two-room office used for counseling sessions and as a waiting room for parents.

T.E.A.M. Health has exceeded all expectations, providing services to over 1,000 clients. All of this has been accomplished on schedules lasting only eight to nine months per year, because there is no indoor riding facility. Connecticut winters severely impact the agency’s efforts, stopping all active work with the horses due to safety issues caused by ice and snow. The greatest effect of this winter shut-down is the loss of progress for clients, who usually regress during the winter layover and must go through a rehabilitation phase in the spring to bring them back to previous levels.

To correct this problem and provide for future growth, T.E.A.M. Health has determined that minimally, an all-weather enclosure needs to be erected on a portion of the open range nearest to the stable. Other plans to improve the facilities include a covered passageway between the barn and the all-weather enclosure, an expanded and better positioned parking area to accommodate the handicapped, a badly needed renovated barn with additional stalls, and an attached meeting room for individual client therapy sessions.

Phase 1 is focused on the all-weather enclosure and passageway to immediately improve delivery of services to children, adolescents, and adults who enjoy better lives because of their work with T.E.A.M. Health.
